1. Acceptance of terms
By downloading, installing, or using choobi ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Lintio Limited ("we," "us," or "our").
2. Description of service
choobi is a personal reflection and wellness companion app that provides:
- AI-powered conversational journalling and reflection tools
- A rich text journal editor
- Mood tracking and insights
- Goal-setting features
- Memory capture and preservation
- Grounding and mindfulness exercises
choobi is provided "as is" and we reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time.
3. Not a medical or therapy service
Important disclaimer: choobi is not a medical service, therapy app, mental health provider, or crisis counselor. It does not provide diagnosis, treatment, or medical advice of any kind. The AI companion is not a licensed therapist, psychologist, or medical professional.
choobi is a personal reflection tool designed to help you journal, track your mood, and process your thoughts. It is not a substitute for professional mental health care.
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, thoughts of self-harm, or any medical emergency, please contact:
- Emergency services (911 in the US, 999 in the UK, 112 in the EU)
- A qualified mental health professional
- A crisis helpline such as the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (US) or similar in your country
By using choobi, you acknowledge and agree that it is not a substitute for professional mental health care and that you will seek appropriate professional help when needed.
4. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use choobi (or 16 years old if you are in the European Union or United Kingdom). By using choobi, you represent that you meet this age requirement.
If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent to use the App.
5. Accounts and security
- You may use choobi in Guest Mode without creating an account. Guest data is stored only on your device.
- If you create an account, you are responsible for maintaining the security of your password and account.
- You must provide accurate information when creating your account.
- You may not share your account credentials with others.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- Notify us immediately at info@lintio.org if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use choobi to:
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Harass, threaten, or harm others
- Attempt to manipulate or abuse the AI system (e.g., prompt injection, jailbreaking)
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract proprietary algorithms or source code
- Transmit viruses, malware, or other harmful code
- Access the service in an automated or scraping manner
- Impersonate any person or entity
- Use the service for any commercial purpose without our written permission
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
7. Your content
You own your content. Journal entries, chat messages, mood logs, memories, and goals you create in choobi belong to you.
By using choobi, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, process, and transmit your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you. We do not claim ownership of your content and will not use it for any other purpose.
You are responsible for the content you create and share within the App. Do not include content that is illegal, defamatory, or violates the rights of others.
You can export or delete your content at any time via the App's Settings or by contacting us.
8. Free service and future pricing
choobi is currently free to use. We reserve the right to introduce paid features, subscriptions, or pricing tiers in the future. If we do:
- We will provide reasonable advance notice to existing users
- Existing features will not be retroactively paywalled without notice
- Any in-app purchases will be subject to the App Store (Apple) or Google Play billing terms
Refund requests for in-app purchases must be directed to Apple or Google, depending on where you made the purchase.
9. Third-party services
choobi uses the following third-party services:
- OpenAI: Powers the AI companion. Subject to OpenAI's Terms of Use.
- Supabase: Authentication and database. Subject to Supabase's Terms of Service.
- Open-Meteo: Weather data (optional, requires location permission).
- Expo / EAS: App build and distribution infrastructure.
We are not responsible for the actions, content, or policies of third-party services.
10. Disclaimers
choobi is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
We do not guarantee that:
- The App will be available at all times or free from errors
- AI responses will be accurate, appropriate, or suitable for your situation
- Data stored in the App will not be lost due to technical failures
Always maintain your own backups of important journal entries and data using the Export feature.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Lintio Limited, officers, employees, agents, and licensors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:
- Loss of data or profits
- Emotional distress or mental health outcomes
- Any reliance placed on AI responses
- Service interruptions
Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or your use of choobi shall not exceed £50 GBP (or equivalent in your local currency).
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lintio Limited from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of your use of choobi, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to choobi at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion.
You may terminate your account at any time from Settings → Account Actions → Delete Account. Upon termination, your data will be permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of choobi shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer resident in the EU, you may also benefit from the mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence.
15. Changes to terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date and, for significant changes, by email or in-app notice. Continued use of choobi after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
